“My cat often howls at home for no reason! How to treat it?! ”

In fact, in my experience, the reasons why domestic cats howl are diverse and complex. So today I would like to open up discussion and share this issue with you.
Let’s first popularize the most common reasons:
It was the time of estrus.
Cats are generally more than five months old, so you have to consider whether they are about to enter estrus. The vast majority of unneutered cats will howl intermittently during estrus, both male and female, accompanied by other symptoms.
If the howling caused by this reason is easy to solve: take it to a regular hospital for sterilization.
But more often than not, the cat has been neutered, why does it still howl? !
Lonely and lonely cold type:
Cats that live with people actually love to stick with people. Many cat families spend too little time with cats for various reasons, so that cats gradually develop depressed symptoms.
It is recommended to increase the time to play with this situation, and at the same time, petting and hugging multiple times a day are necessary.
Claustrophobia type:
In many cat families, cats will be confined to a certain space, from cages to houses.
Cats’ nature is not willing to be restricted, they have a strong sense of ownership of any corner and space in the home, and are willing to go to all rooms in the home at will.
Once the range of activities is restricted for a long time, cats will have anxiety and uneasiness, and some cats will vent by howling.
This happens especially in families with only one cat, or when two cats are allowed to move differently.

Environmentally Sensitive :
Some cats will vent their emotions through howling due to changes in the living environment, or even due to changes in family members or mood swings of family members.
Case 1:
My family’s Huanhuan was fostered in a pet store from birth to the age of three, living a collective life in a pet store.
After being adopted, she often howled anxiously around five o’clock in the morning, and the mother of the adoptive family didn’t like the cat very much, which led to Huanhuan’s nervousness.
Later, I took Huanhuan back. Because there were other friends at home, and after a period of comfort, Huanhuan never howled again.
Case 2:
My Shunshun is a stray cat that was rescued by the end of this year. Shunshun was abandoned for two years, all thanks to the well-wishers in the community to piece together and feed.
In the past, an aunt who opened a restaurant often called her out to eat when she got off work at 11 o’clock at night or went to work at five o’clock in the morning, so that Shunshun developed the habit of eating at these two times.
When I got home, Shunshun would howl loudly when there was no food at these two points, and I am still changing Shunshun’s eating time habits little by little.
So far, Shunshun has only howled around five o’clock in the morning, and Shunshun is already very quiet at eleven o’clock at night.
Physiological causes
For example, incomplete sterilization or premature type:
I would like to remind you here that some doctors do not sterilize cats thoroughly: for example, some female cats will still retain their ovaries, or some male cats will have a little bit of development after premature sterilization.
In this case, the cat will also be restless and howling, especially in winter and spring, spring and summer. All howling caused by physiological reasons should be checked in the hospital in time and corresponding measures should be taken.
