Maybe you won’t go to Sri Lanka again in the next few years, then come and see this Ceylon pride

Sri Lanka has a more touching name-Ceylon, which is an island country in the Indian Ocean. It not only has the well-known Ceylon black tea, but also rich gems. Therefore, when I went to Sri Lanka for the first time, I wanted to enjoy tea gardens and gems.

However, when you arrive in Sri Lanka, you will know that this tropical island country has far more than these two things. It also has a famous elephant orphanage. Every afternoon, groups of elephants go to the nearby river to take a bath. The picture is very spectacular. It also has a great castle, Lion Rock, with a promenade and steps made of lime, brick and mud extending from the mouth of the giant lion, from which people can climb the stairs to the ancient city of Sigiriya.

Most importantly, as a land of Southern Buddhism, Sri Lanka has its own pride-Dambule Grottoes.

Danbule Grottoes, also known as Danbule Golden Temple, is a grotto-style Buddhist temple and a pilgrimage place in Sri Lanka. The Buddhist caves of the whole temple include five shrines, which are ordered according to the contents of Buddhism, and the richest ones are the first, second and third caves.

Among them, the first cave is “Tianwang Cave”, the second cave is “Dawang Cave”, which is also the largest cave, and the third cave is “Daxin Temple”, showing Sri Lankan painting style.

One of the unique features of Danbulejin Temple lies in its location. It is under a huge rock with a height of 115 meters, so it is in a cave, which shows how difficult it is. Among them, the most dazzling ones are those Buddha statues and murals. According to statistics, murals alone cover an area of 2,100 square meters, while there are 157 statues. These arts tell many stories about Buddhism to the world and are of great religious artistic value.

Surprisingly, those exquisite murals are still vivid and colorful after the baptism of time. It is said that they can last for so many years because of the use of local natural tree sap in painting. These sacred artistic objects are not only treasures of Sri Lanka, but also treasures belonging to mankind. I hope they can be handed down for a long time.

Dambule Grotto Temple has long been a world heritage site, and it is one of the earliest places in Sri Lanka to be rated as a world cultural heritage site. For Sri Lanka, it is a proud, peaceful and sacred place, where they meditate and gain inner peace. People’s faith is rooted in this legendary building that survives in the world, and it also permeates the daily life of Sri Lankan people.

Its status makes it a place you should never miss when you go to Sri Lanka.
